Who is Judy Tzuke, Prof?

Von All About Eve hab ich das meiste, sogar die CD-Singles - eine völlig unterbewertete Band. Die zweite Scheibe, 'Scarlet and other stories', finde ich die beste. Das geniale 'The pearl fisherman' alleine ist das Geld für die CD wert. So um 1989 durfte ich Julianne Regan und ihre Band, an einem sehr warmen Sommerabend hier in Amsterdoomed, live bewundern. Es war in einem Wort: märchenhaft. Man fühlte sich eher in San Francisco 1968 als auf einem Rockkonzert in den späten Achtzigern. Und ich bin nicht gerade ein Hippiefan.

Judie Tzuke ist eine britische Sängerin die seit 1977/'78 aktiv ist und ich folge ihre Karriere ab der ersten richtigen Single 'Stay with me 'til dawn'. Ihre Stimme und Musik sind einzigartig, leider (oder glücklicherweise?) ist sie immer ein Insidertipp geblieben. Mal ist ihre Musik rockig, mal verträumt - aber immer von höhester Qualität. Ihr haftet einfach etwas magisches, melancholisches an, dass bis heute nicht verwässert ist. Ihre Platten verkauft sie nur noch über ihre Website, da sie sich weitestgehend von den Plattenfirmen abgekehrt hat.
'The end of the beginning' ist ihre neue Studioscheibe - und wieder etwas ganz besonderes. Vergesst diese ganzen hippen Neuzeitpiepsern - das hier ist Musik die aus dem Herzen kommt.
