BLAZON STONE - Return to Port Royal

Beitragvon Stormspell_Records » 7. Juni 2012, 06:15

Pirate Treasure Delight - a delicious riff salad of early test mixes to give you a taste of the upcoming BLAZON STONE album, entitled "Return to Port Royal." Beware of the Kraken sticks, they could be rather spiky! :)

P.S. sorry for the shitty quality!

Damn, sounds nice :yeah:
You should use some inspiration from the original cover artworks for this one!
And try not to use a computer artwork. If you're looking for an artist, ask Acrylator here from the board.
Think there's something very big coming up! Now I'm very curious about the vocals :-D
Diego definetely has to do a more dirty and rough vocal performance than on Skiltron to match Rolf, if that is what's wanted! But I think that will be possible!

Well, the album is practically recorded. We only need to dub several acoustic intros and one guitar solo left. Ced ran into some hardware problems with his computer, which he should be taking care of this week.

We still need vocalist though. We tried Michael Rinakakis from AIR RAID and I dug the result, but Ced rejected it - he has quite a stern vision how it should sound, so we are still on the look.

We are going to try Joe Liszt next - he is a local guy here in my city, currently singing for 80s Bay Area thrashers HELLHOUND. He has a husky mid-range voice not far away from Hansi Kursh which could work for Blazon Stone, I hope. We shall see.

The artwork is going to be hand-drawn acrylic on board. It is done by Michael Nörback who is also Ced's bandmate in one of his numerous musical endeavors. If given a chance, I personally would have tried to commission Andreas Marchall, given he has done all those amazing RW covers. But anyway, I've seen Michael's sketches and they look great! totally in vein of classic pirate era RW.

I'm going to press this baby on vinyl, if only we manage to finish it off!

We are also done recording the new ROCKA ROLLAS, and guess what... Josef turned out to be too busy with other priorities and we do not have vocalist for that one too, DOH! Life's a real bitch sometimes... :angry2:

Exclusively for the Sacred Metal Board I'm going to post an advanced stream of a tune from BLAZON STONE. It will be only available for next 24 hours, so listen while you can. (Early mix w/o bass)

The song is called "The Curse of the Ghostship": (link expired, thanks for listening!)

Sounds really nice! Great work. I'm looking forward to that.
And as there'll be a vinyl version, I'm certainly going to buy it.

Hey Helvetets,

Thanks for listening! I'm glad you like it. Today Jean Pierre from Borrowed Time expressed interest to give it a try, so we now have more available options!

I liked it, too. Sounds 1:1 like late 80s/early 90s RUNNING WILD.

Now gimme a good singer and I´ll buy it.

:yeah:

Yeah, disregard the production quality, it is very rough test mix and we used lo-fi mp3 instrumental track to start with. I'm more interested what you guys think about the vocals

Wow, that's awesome.
The vocals have a thrashy feeling to them, but they are still really melodic. Way to go!
