Die US-Amerikaner KATAGORY V ( Homepage ) aus Salt Lake City arbeiten mit neuem Sänger und neuem Gitarristen an ihrem 5. Album. Hier gibt es kleine Hörproben vom neuen Sänger Albert Rybka (der wie der alte klingt): Hörproben vom neuen Sänger bei Katagory V.

Mail von der Band:

Salt Lake City, Utahs Progressive/Power metal veterans *Katagory V* have
announced that famed German/American producer, *Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69,
Angra, Primal Fear, Silent Force)* will helm the mixing and mastering duties for
the bands upcoming 5^th album, /*Resurrect the Insurgence*/.

Commented bassist/songwriter and founding member Dustin Mitchell, /I know it has
been quite a while since we have had any official updates concerning the new
album, and many of you were becoming concerned that we had fallen off the face
of the earth, but I can finally say we are seeing progress and the *Katagory V*
machine is in full motion on ce again!/

/First things first, we finalized the vocal tracks around the beginning of
December, and also brought in guest vocalists, Norman Skinner (Skinner,
*Tramontane, Ex-Imagika*) Shane Provstgaard (Sonic Prophecy) and John Yelland
(Shadowseer, Disforia) to help with many of the backing vocals, a first for
*Katagory V*! These guys were amazing and we want to officially thank them for
delivering a brilliant performance in the studio! We officially wrapped up
recording for the album in it’s entirety in January, at which point we took a
little time off before tracking down an individual that could tackle the mixing
and mastering of our new album, We needed someone that would have and ear and
understanding for the direction the band is currently taking./

/This is also another first for *Katagory V*, as we have never handed over our
music to anyone outside of the band, and we knew it was time to take another
step forward and do something different. We already had in mind a few people
that would be able to help with our vision for this new album, but one
particular name kept coming up over and over, and that was *Dennis Ward*. We are
proud to announce that *Dennis* has agreed to take on this challenge, and will
be putting his amazing talents to use with our music. His abilities behind the
board are without question, and are key to the path we are taking with
*Resurrect the Insurgence*. After hearing some of the initial mixes, we are
confident that he will help us deliver a high quality album tha t will easily
overshadow anything we have done previously both musically and sonically./

*Dennis Ward* had this to say about the collaboration, /Mixing and Mastering the
new Katagory V album has been a real pleasure. The new songs have a progressive
touch along the lines of Rush-meets-Iron Maiden, it also surprised me to hear
some good ol' hard rock riffing! The band has done a great job
self-recording/producing this latest offering, and I think this is the start of
a new chapter for Katagory V. I am sure fans of all rock genres will enjoy this
album/.

Hmmm, werd ich mal wieder reinhören. Nach dem klasse Debut hat mich die Band mit den beiden nachfolgenden Scheiben irgendwie enttäuscht!

News von der Band:

New song from upcoming album available or streaming!

*I Am Change*, the brand new song from progressive/power metal act *Katagory V
*has been made available for streaming on the bands ReverbNation and Facebook
page. The song is set to appear on the bands up coming 5th album /Resurrect the
insurgence/.

Comments bassist *Dustin Mitchell*, /It has been over four years in the making,
and earlier this year we had finally finished tracking, mixing and mastering the
new *Katagory V *album with the help of producer *Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69,
Angra, Primal Fear)*. We’ve had some downtime recently, and decided that rather
than sit on our hands and watch the world pass us by, it was time instead to let
the world finally hear what is coming with a preview of one of the finished
songs that will appear on the new album. Lyrically, this is a simple song about
life changes, something that everyone in the *Katagory V *camp is now all too
familiar with. In life, you have to either deal with change and adapt because it
is inevitable, or if you don’t like the change, then take a stand and make a
change for yourself and move on. Musically, this song is a back-to-basics old
school U.S. 80’s metal anthem where we our wearing our influences on our sleeve.
Straight ahead crunchy-rock riffing, powerful syncopated double bass drumming,
in-the-rafters vocals with strong hooks, in-your-face bass, and virtuoso lead
guitars! We picked this song for obvious reasons, and I’m sure when you all hear
it… the song title will speak for itself. We hope you enjoy it!/

The song new song *I am Change* can be streamed at these locations: on
reverbnation <http://www.reverbnation.com/katagoryv> and on the bands facebook
page <http://www.facebook.com/pages/Katagory-V/199639805234?sk=app_2405167945 >

/Resurrect The Insurgence/ will be the first *KATAGORY V* album to be recorded,
produced, and engineered by long-time bassist and songwriter*Dustin Mitchell,*
who is the sole remaining original member in the band. The album was mixed and
mastered by producer *Dennis Ward*.

The new album marks the recording debut of the new *KATAGORY V* lineup:
Dustin Mitchell - Bass
Albert Rybka - Vocals
Matthew /Bizzaro/ LeFevre - Drums
Marc Hanson - Guitar
Kris Krompel - Guitar

*KATAGORY V*'s most recent album, *Hymns of Dissension*, was released in
September 2007 in Europe through *Burning Star Records* and in October 2007 in
the U.S. on *Nightmare Records.*

Yeah, gute Neuigkeiten. "I Am Change" mit den Shouts über den schrubbenden Gitarren läuft mir perfekt in die Lauschmuscheln. Der Sänger erinnert mich an eine Mischung aus Paul Rarick (Tiles) und I&W-LaBrie. Super, auch hier gfrei i mi narrisch auf die Platte. So dürften Dream Theater gerne klingen. Musikalisch den letzten beiden LaBrie-Soloscheiben nicht unähnlich.

Email von der Band mit einem neuen, ebenso starken Song:

"Far Too Long", another brand new song from the progressive/power metal act
KATAGORY V can be streamed through the bands
ReverbNation page. The track will appear on the bands
upcoming fifth album, "Resurrect The Insurgence".

Comments bassist Dustin Mitchell: We know it has been rather quiet in the
KATAGORY V camp, and many have been wondering when the new album will be
released, but rest assured we are still fighting the good fight, and the new
album will be delivered in good time. However, it has been difficult to nail
down a release date in the current state of the industry with the constant
changes abound. Never the less, we are still alive!

A few months back we uploaded a new song from the upcoming album "Resurrect The
Insurgence", which was completed earlier this year with the help of producer
*Dennis Ward (PINK CREAM 69, ANGRA, PRIMAL FEAR)*, and felt it was time to throw
out another musical morsel from the new album out there for everyone to test drive.

Lyrically, "Far Too Long" Is about the ending of a very long relationship with
someone, the ripple effect that it causes, the expectations from those around
you, and the changes that need to be overcome. This song was written four years
ago, and only recently, became self-prophesying for myself, which I found to be
rather ironic.

Musically, this song is a very straight ahead, very melancholy track with a bit
of an AOR approach. *Dennis* and I joked that this would be our radio hit if
such a thing existed for the band, or in general these days, as it is by far the
most accessible song on the album. It has many of the classic *KATAGORY V*
progressive trademarks with the phrasings and structures, however with a lot
more emphasis on melody and hook. Once again, our influences are very apparent
here in this song and we are very proud of how this turned out. It musically and
emotionally compliments the lyrical content.

We picked this next song to show the fans another side of the band, as well as
the more melodic direction we are taking with the new album. We feel that the
production and performance of this song highlights the album as a whole. We hope
you enjoy it!
